The St. Louis (DSL) Cardinals weathered a fine game by Detroit (DSL) first baseman Jesús Ruíz to upend the Tigers, 4-3, at Las Américas Complex. Ruíz was 3-5 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Yes, it was a win for St. Louis (DSL); but their 8-23 record is still nothing to boast about.

The Cardinals got a clutch hit from catcher Luis Manuel Muñóz. In the bottom of the 11th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Cardinals.

"It's great when the crowd goes berserk," Muñóz said.
