Due in large part to second baseman Wes Strickland, the New York N 2 (DSL) Mets 2 sunk the Houston 2 (DSL) Astros Orange, 16-5. Strickland was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. The win belonged to Hugh Farrell in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Manny Pérez took the loss for Houston 2 (DSL). The Astros Orange, now 6-21, have lost 5 in a row.

With New York N 2 (DSL) leading 2-0 in the top of the first, Strickland hit a slider from Manny Pérez for a grand slam home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Mets 2 ahead, 6-0.

"I hate to be the fly in the ointment," said Strickland, "but we could've played better."
