The Pittsburgh (DSL) Pirates 1 and Texas 2 (DSL) Rangers 2 obliged fans hoping for an exciting game.

The Pittsburgh (DSL) Pirates 1 beat the Texas 2 (DSL) Rangers 2, 7-6, in part because of catcher Bob Thompson. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Anastasio Cabrera, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held the Rangers 2 to 3 runs on 6 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 2.

Thompson contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Pittsburgh (DSL) in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-2, Thompson took a slider from José Hernández and stroked the home run to right. His 1st home run of the season allowed the Pirates 1 to leap in front, 6-3.

"Nothing is scripted in this game," said Thompson.

The third-place Rangers 2 have lost 4 consecutive games.
