The DSL Cubs got a superb performance from pitcher Charlie Davis, but the DSL Astros still won the game, 5-3. Davis threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball. DSL reliever Stan McKee picked up the win to move to 1-1. Jeff Barnes suffered the loss. José García closed the game out for DSL, earning his 2nd save.

The Astros beat the Cubs in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Octávio Villalobos produced in the top of the ninth. Batting against Jeff Barnes, Villalobos gave his team the lead, 5-3, when he hit a 2-run single.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Villalobos.

The win gives DSL a record of 2-2.
