The Chicago White Sox racked up a win at Safeco Field, bumping off the Seattle Mariners, 3-2. Mike Kelly, who started for Chicago, pitched effectively for his team. In 7.2 innings, Kelly surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs. Steve Peters got the save, the 16th for him this season.

Chicago used a clutch at-bat from António García to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the White Sox ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Chicago manager Morgan Ensberg.
