Dow Diamond was the site for Midwest League action featuring the Great Lakes Loons and West Michigan Whitecaps.

West Michigan used a superb performance from starting pitcher Arsenio Pelayo to down the Great Lakes Loons, 6-1. West Michigan improves to 102-34 with the win. They lead their division by 28 games.

West Michigan used the timely hitting of Sergio Jara to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Whitecaps on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"It's a mindset," said Pelayo. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
