Giants Slap 7-5 Loss on Bakersfield
|
The performance of Bob Jones proved critical in helping San Jose beat Bakersfield, 7-5. The Giants catcher went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. San Jose reliever Alan Melvey picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Jared McCarthy took the loss. The North Division-leading Giants are 88-52.
Ed Keller, who is tied for 6th in the CAL in runs scored with 69, helped out the San Jose cause in the bottom of the sixth inning with a run-scoring double. For the game, the pinch hitter went 1-2 with a double.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Keller.
