Giants Come Back Late to Top Nuts, 5-3
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the San Jose Giants and Modesto Nuts.

The San Jose Giants picked up a win at San Jose Municipal Stadium, taking down the Modesto Nuts, 5-3. Starting pitcher Mike Thompson was a big reason why. Thompson picked up the win for San Jose, going 8 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 10-6.

San Jose took a 5-3 lead on Edmund Richards's 11th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Richards hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Modesto pitcher Eric White visibly frustrated.

San Jose manager Steve Liddle commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."

The Giants improved to 74-61.
