Storm Earn Late Win
|
The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Jamal Haley into a win. Instead, the Lake Elsinore Storm prevailed, 2-1. Haley threw 7.1 innings allowing 1 run. Dan Norman earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. His record is now 1-0. Picking up the save was Luis Maldonado, his 4th.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Ian Green? The 22-year old first baseman Green stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put Lake Elsinore up, 2-1. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"We did just enough to win," Green said.
The Storm go to 44-90 with the win.
