The San Diego (AZL) Padres knocked off the Texas (AZL) Rangers, 6-4, at Surprise Stadium. Tim McDaniel was a big reason San Diego (AZL) won. The center fielder went 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. With the win, San Diego (AZL) pushed its record to 34-10.
It could have been a different outcome for San Diego (AZL), had it not been for Juan Martínez, the 20-year old center fielder . Martínez contributed a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the top of the fifth inning to put San Diego (AZL) up, 6-4.
"We'd like to put some distance between ourselves and the rest of the division," said Martínez.
