Rock Cats Turn Back Mets, 2-1
|
Jesús Amezcha pitched well, but his team, the Binghamton Mets, still dropped a 2-1 decision to the New Britain Rock Cats at New Britain Stadium. Milo Sykes went 6.1 innings for New Britain to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 1 run. He scattered 9 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 2. His record improves to 2-1. Binghamton, now 5-17, continues its tough start.
Mario Díaz drove in one run for New Britain. The 24-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off António Candelária. It was his 9th RBI of the season.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Díaz.
