Road Win Lifts Connecticut to 2-1 Lead in R2
When Connecticut Tigers manager Jeff Mathis penciled in the name of youngster José Cervantes today, he said he was hoping for perhaps six decent innings. He got them, but in hindsight, he probably didn't need them.

The Tigers destroyed the Williamsport Crosscutters, 12-4, behind a good start from the 20-year-old Cervantes and a huge day from the offense. With the win, Connecticut took a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 Round 2.

The Tigers benefited from a costly error in the top of the second. With Steve Adams at bat and Connecticut leading 1-0, the Williamsport miscue allowed Connecticut to plate 1 and take the lead, 2-0.

"It was a good day but I'm not letting my guard down," Cervantes said. "I'll let my guard down as soon as someone puts a big, fat championship ring on my finger."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Bowman Field in Williamsport.
