The Batavia Muckdogs started the Round 1 in style, winning on the road against the Connecticut Tigers at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium by a score of 10-5 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Muckdogs shortstop Joe Collins excelled. He went 3-5 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

Sean Forrest had a key at-bat with one out in the top of the eighth for Batavia. With the bases loaded and the Muckdogs leading 5-4, he got hit by a pitch, driving in 1 run.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Collins.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium in Norwich.
