In a low-scoring contest between the Chicago A (AZL) White Sox and the Cincinnati (AZL) Reds, 20-year old left-handed pitcher Luis Cortéz proved to be the difference. The Chicago A (AZL) left-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 White Sox win. The winner was Cortéz. He threw 5.0 innings allowing 1 run. The loser was Bao-tian Liu. The loss has the Reds at 1-2.
With scoring opportunities rare, the White Sox had to cash in when they had the chance.
