Rijo Excels, But Rangers Win
The Texas (AZL) Rangers weathered an outstanding game by Cleveland (AZL) center fielder Héctor Rijo to topple the Spiders, 8-6. Rijo hit 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Luis Mejía, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits. Chris Martin picked up the save, his 2nd.

Texas (AZL) grabbed control in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, Dan Gallant delivered a run-scoring single, to make it 7-6 in favor of the Rangers.

"It was a nice win for our side today," said Rangers manager Ron Robinson. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."

Texas (AZL), with the win, is 2-1.
