Tigers Send Williamsport Home with 5-2 Loss
|
Though he had a great game, Joe Norman could not single-handedly produce a win for Williamsport. Connecticut won the game, 5-2. Norman was 2-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs. Filip Pauw closed it out for Connecticut, earning his 16th save. Connecticut leads the Stedler Division by 14 games.
Orlando Gutiérrez had a big 2-run double for the Tigers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Connecticut leading 3-2 and the bases loaded, he got a changeup from Dave Lynam, who leads the NYP in innings pitched with 120.1, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tigers ahead, 5-2.
Connecticut manager Bo Porter commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
