Big Day for Richardson as ValleyCats Down Doubledays, 12-7
The Tri-City ValleyCats beat the Auburn Doubledays, 12-7, at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. The win was due in part to left fielder Jon Richardson, who was 4-4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. Tri-City reliever Ernesto Hernández picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Jim Richmond was saddled with the loss. The ValleyCats saw their win-loss record go to 29-39. At the same time, the Doubledays fell to 25-43.

The ValleyCats took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Facing Auburn hurler Jim Richmond with no outs, Richardson hit a 2-run home run.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Richardson told a Tri-City Daily reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
