Tigers Pin 8-5 Loss on Vermont
|
The Connecticut Tigers used the hitting of catcher Danny Gallimore to subdue the Vermont Lake Monsters, 8-5. For the game, Gallimore was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. The winning pitcher was Joe Gibbs. He's now 1-0. He went 6.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits for the Tigers. The save went to Mario López, his 1st this season.
Don Robison had a big 2-run double for the Tigers in the bottom of the first inning. With Connecticut leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from 23-year old left-handed pitcher Lonnie Pitt and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tigers ahead, 3-0.
"We came out aggressive," said Tigers manager Bo Porter. "We came out swinging the bats."
With the loss, Vermont falls to 2-3.
