Lake Monsters Lose, 5-4, at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium

The Connecticut Tigers beat the Vermont Lake Monsters, 5-4. Connecticut pitcher and Columbia, South Carolina, native Rory Briggs led the way. Connecticut reliever Rory Briggs picked up the win, while Stu Russell took the loss for Vermont. Filip Pauw nailed down his 1st save.
Charlie Ferguson was 2-3 with 2 singles and was hit by a pitch for Connecticut. The 20-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch off Stu Russell. It was his 1st RBI of the season.
Ferguson told a Connecticut Chronicle reporter that the win made him feel "upbeat about our team."
The defeat makes Vermont 1-2.
