Macías, Black Bears March to 8-3 Victory
The West Virginia Black Bears ushered in the 2025 season with a win versus the Auburn Doubledays at Russell Diethrick Park. The final score was 8-3. Left Fielder Víctor Macías had a standout performance. The winning pitcher was Jeremy Fowler. His record now stands at 1-0. The right-hander went 6 innings, allowing no runs on 2 hits for the Black Bears. Greg Murray stitched up the save, his 1st.

With West Virginia leading 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Rhett Fuller hit a run-scoring single off Auburn pitcher Jim Rascop. It put the Black Bears ahead 2-0.
