Behind a bravura effort from starter Aurelio Thompson, the Winston-Salem Dash topped the Lynchburg Hillcats by the score of 3-1 and got their first win in the 2026 Round 2. Thompson threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the Dash. The win moves Winston-Salem into a 1-1 tie with Lynchburg.

Chris Farris helped out the Winston-Salem cause in the top of the fifth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the designated hitter went 2 for 5 with 2 singles.

"Aurelio is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Winston-Salem manager Brent Metheny.

Game 3 is scheduled for Sunday at New Winston-Salem Ballpark in Winston-Salem.
