The Augusta GreenJackets picked up a win at Lake Olmstead Stadium, knocking off the Rome Firebirds, 9-5. Starting pitcher Alan Melvey was a big reason why. Melvey picked up the win for Augusta, going 6 innings. He gave up 4 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 8-6. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for the GreenJackets.

Augusta right fielder José Moreno contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 9th hit of the season and put the GreenJackets ahead, 5-4.

"Their at-bats were really impressive against us," said losing manager Aaron Holbert.
