Kannapolis Offense Goes Belly-Up Versus Vargas, Shorebirds
The Delmarva Shorebirds beat the Kannapolis Intimidators, 2-0, at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. Starting pitcher Darío Vargas was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Robinson García earned the save, his 34th in 37 tries. The win gives Delmarva a season record of 69-68.

Vargas, a native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, was dealing all game. He kept Kannapolis hitters off-balance, while giving the Shorebirds 7 quality innings. Vargas threw 88 pitches, allowing 2 hits and striking out 5.

Vargas attributed the win to his team's "concerted effort."
