The Hickory Crawdads got a strong performance from pitcher Augusto González, who stymied the Kannapolis offense en route to a win, 2-0, at L.P. Frans Stadium. Rob Kennedy nailed down the save. The 6th-place Crawdads have won 4 straight.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Crawdads had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when shortstop Shawn Collins hit a 2-run single. The single came off Joe Wood and made the score 2-0, Crawdads. Collins went 2-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs.

"When Augusto is in the zone, it's kind of like -- good luck," said Hickory manager Joakim Soria.
