The Rome Firebirds got a strong performance from pitcher José Rojas, who stymied the Asheville offense en route to a win, 3-2, at State Mutual Stadium. The triumph puts Rome at 80-49 for the season.

Luis Rivera, who is tied for 6th in the SAL in triples with 6, helped out the Rome cause in the bottom of the second inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the center fielder went 1-4 with a double.

"José is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Rome manager Aaron Holbert.
