The Lakewood BlueClaws got a superb performance from pitcher Kevin Rodgers, but the Charleston RiverDogs still won the game, 4-3. Rodgers threw 7.1 innings allowing 4 runs. Juan Montalvo earned the win to go to 4-16. He allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with 2 walks and 1 strikeout in 5 innings of work. Yes, it was a win for Charleston; but their 38-83 mark is nothing to crow about.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Bobby Brantley? The Charleston shortstop had a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the RiverDogs on top, 3-1. For the game, Brantley had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"The other side took advantage in some key situations," said Lakewood manager Shawn Kelley.
