López, Firebirds Too Much for Crawdads
A 4-RBI performance from Francis López, who is tied for 9th in the SAL in doubles with 25, helped the Rome Firebirds beat the Hickory Crawdads, 7-3. Don St. John picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 7. On the season, he is now 6-5. Lou Riley recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 30 for 35.

Rome took a 7-1 lead on López's 4th home run of the season. The grand slam home run, which he hit off Max Phillips in the bottom of the seventh, propelled Rome to the win.

"I was just going up there trying to see good pitches, that was about it," said López.

Rome leads the Southern Division by 5½ games.
