Adrián Montepeque impressed in the 12-9 Lakewood win over Kannapolis. Montepeque was 4-5 with 4 singles and a walk, while scoring 5 runs. Iván Núñez recorded the save, making him 12 for 14. The BlueClaws, now 45-52, have won 4 in a row.
Had Steve Mendoza not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Mendoza hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 10-9, in favor of the BlueClaws.
