Asheville Loss Tarnishes Fine Game by Collazo
The Savannah Sand Gnats besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Asheville catcher Xavier Collazo by beating the Tourists, 13-10, at Grayson Stadium. Collazo was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Geoffrey Lee was the winner in relief. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Josh Cooper. José Jiménez picked up his 3rd save of the season.

In the bottom of the fifth, Savannah third baseman Mike Nance had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Nance stroked a 2-run single to right-center. It made the score 11-8, Savannah. For the game, he went 3-5 with 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 4.

"If you were looking for a pitchers' duel," said Nance, "this wasn't it."

Savannah is 51-45 and Asheville, with the loss, 46-50.
