With Late Score, BlueClaws Beat Intimidators

In a low-scoring contest between the Lakewood BlueClaws and the Kannapolis Intimidators, 23-year old left-handed pitcher Bob Williams proved to be the difference. The Lakewood left-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-2 BlueClaws win. The win went to Garry Gilbert in relief. His record improves to 5-7. Mel Walter took the loss. Lakewood is now 44-52, while Kannapolis is 54-42.
Center Fielder Pat Green made an impact for Lakewood, when he swatted a 2-run double off David Velásquez in the top of the third. For the contest, Green was 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 3 runs.
"Every loss hurts," said Kannapolis manager Carlos Mota. "But this was a tough one."
