Guest Crawdads Win, 7-5, at Savannah
|
The Hickory Crawdads downed the Savannah Sand Gnats, 7-5. The hitting star was second baseman Steve Day. Day went 2 for 5 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Crawdads. The winner was Hickory reliever Ben Parks, now 1-0. The loser was José Agodo. The Crawdads move to 41-54 with the win, while the Sand Gnats drop to 52-43.
Day contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Hickory in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 5-3, Day took a fastball from José Agodo and stroked the home run to left. His 4th home run of the season allowed the Crawdads to leap in front, 6-5.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Day.
