Rome center fielder Luis Rivera helped his team beat the Hickory Crawdads, 6-4. Rivera, who is tied for 2nd in the SAL in triples with 6, went 3 for 4 for the Hammers. The win was credited to 26-year old right-handed pitcher Joe Burton in relief. His record improves to 5-2. Ben Farrell took the loss. Rome is now 57-36, 7½ games up in the Southern Division.

It could have been a different outcome for Rome, had it not been for José García, the 21-year old left fielder . García contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Rome up, 4-3.

"We didn't play well enough to win," Hickory skipper Joakim Soria said.
