The Savannah Sand Gnats could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Zach Fields into a win. Instead, the Augusta GreenJackets prevailed, 4-2. Fields threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Augusta now has a record of 54-38 with the win.
Had Ron White not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, White hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the GreenJackets.
White called the win "a collective effort."
