In a low-scoring contest between the Augusta GreenJackets and the Savannah Sand Gnats, Dave Allen, who is tied for 9th in the SAL in wins with 8, proved to be the difference. The Augusta left-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 GreenJackets win. Allen, the winner, moves to 8-2. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up no walks. Pete Bryan recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 22 for 22.

The GreenJackets got a big at-bat from left fielder Jon West. For the game, West was 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 25th home run of the season gave Augusta a 2-0 lead.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Augusta manager Troy Tulowitzki.

With the win, the GreenJackets have a record of 53-38.
