Intimidators Improve to 48-42 with 6-5 Win
The Kannapolis Intimidators had to overcome a fine effort from Rome pitcher Don St. John to win, 6-5, at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. St. John went 7 innings and allowed 6 runs. Raúl Hernández was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 5 of 7 save opportunities. The win elevated the Intimidators to 48-42.

The Firebirds had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Intimidators going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old right fielder Ron Ford came to the plate. Ford hit a 2-run home run on a 1-1 curveball from Rome hurler Don St. John. It was Ford's 12th home run of the year.

"In this profession, you've got to put the good and the bad behind you quickly," Rome skipper Aaron Holbert said.
