A good time was had by all at Appalachian Power Park, where the Kannapolis Intimidators and West Virginia Power tangled.
Darryl Jones, who is tied for 4th in the SAL in quality starts with 13, never let the Intimidators get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Power to a win, 3-1. Jones picked up the win for West Virginia, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 6-5.
The Power got a big at-bat from designated hitter Jorge Cabrera. For the game, Cabrera was 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 5th double of the season gave West Virginia a 2-0 lead.
"The other side played a good game," said Kannapolis manager Carlos Mota. "You tip your cap to them."
West Virginia is 46-43 and Kannapolis, with the loss, 50-39.
