Sand Gnats Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Tourists, 6-5
McCormick Field was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Savannah Sand Gnats and Asheville Tourists.

The inspired effort of Asheville first baseman Juan Barrón was not enough to prevent a loss, 6-5, to the Savannah Sand Gnats. Barrón was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win for the Sand Gnats lifted their record to 45-34.

It could have been a different outcome for Savannah, had it not been for Geoffrey Lee, the 26-year old second baseman . Lee contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Savannah up, 5-3.

"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Lee.
