The Kannapolis Intimidators, despite a fine performance by West Virginia pitcher Joe Burgess, grabbed a 1-0 win at Appalachian Power Park. Burgess allowed no runs over 7 innings. Kannapolis reliever Stan Melton got the win, raising his record to 1-0. António Moreno was tagged with the loss. With the win, Kannapolis has a record of 41-38. West Virginia falls to 39-40.

Waylon Scharf had a key at-bat in the top of the ninth. With a runner on 1st, he hit a double. It helped send Kannapolis to the win.
