Skidding RiverDogs Lose 8th Straight
The Savannah Sand Gnats faced a tough opponent in Charleston pitcher Juan Montalvo, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Grayson Stadium by a final score of 5-2. Montalvo went 8 innings and allowed 2 runs. Reliever Rob Johnson picked up the win. His record improves to 7-4. Oscar Cameron took the loss. Charleston's current losing streak has reached 8 games.

The decisive blow was delivered by Curt Thompson in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 3-run home run off 23-year old left-handed pitcher Oscar Cameron to win the game for Savannah. The home crowd went nuts.

"We bring energy to every game," said losing manager Brian Rupp. "But it's got to translate into wins."
