Sand Gnats Need Extra Frames to Get Past Legends
The Savannah Sand Gnats outlasted the Lexington Legends, 12-6, in 15 innings. Ed Thomas provided some punch at the plate for Savannah. He went 4 for 8 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 5. Savannah reliever Pat Hill picked up the win to move to 1-2. António Cortéz suffered the loss. The Savannah win streak is now 3 games.

Savannah used the clutch hitting of Rob Simpson to capture the win. The center fielder drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the 15th inning to give the Sand Gnats the lead, 7-6. For the game, Simpson had 1 single and 2 doubles in 7 at-bats.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Savannah manager Tyler Colvin.
