The Lakewood BlueClaws topped the Delmarva Shorebirds, 9-7, at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. Lakewood catcher Jorge Acevedo was a spark plug for the offense. He was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Robinson Hernández claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 3 runs on 6 hits in 4.2 innings. His record stands at 1-0. The save was credited to Jeremy Jackson, his 11th.

Lakewood got a big at-bat from Mountain View (Santa Clara County), California native Ed Wheeler, who in the top of the fourth hit a 2-run double. It was his 13th double of the season and put the BlueClaws ahead, 8-1.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Lakewood manager Shawn Kelley.

With the win, the BlueClaws have a record of 41-25.
