The Savannah Sand Gnats got a sterling performance from catcher Nelson Valentín, but the Asheville Tourists still prevailed, 7-6. Valentín was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Josh Cooper picked up the win in relief for Asheville, while Rob Johnson took the loss. Robbie Deal finished to wrap up his 1st save.

Juan Reyes, who is tied for 9th in the SAL in triples with 3, helped out the Asheville cause in the bottom of the third inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the first baseman went 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"Fun game," said Reyes, "even when the outcome was in doubt."

With the win over Savannah, the Tourists improved to 29-33.
