The Kannapolis Intimidators had to overcome a good performance from Greensboro pitcher Dave Proulx to claim a 3-2 win at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. Proulx went 5 innings and allowed 1 run. The winner was Kannapolis reliever Kurt Hill, now 2-1. The loser was Bobby MacColl. With the victory, the Intimidators upped their record to 27-23.

Joey Hawkins, who is tied for 2nd in the SAL in home runs with 9, helped out the Kannapolis cause in the bottom of the seventh inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the first baseman went 1 for 3.

"I was a little disappointed," said Greensboro manager J.A. Happ. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
