Monte Craig brought his A-game to help Savannah defeat the Asheville Tourists, 3-0. Craig, now 3-2, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 11, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Zach Fields was credited with the save for Savannah, his 5th of the season.
Alex Boyd, who is tied for 9th in the SAL in hits with 53, had a direct impact on the outcome. Boyd contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the third inning to put Savannah up, 1-0.
"All in all, I thought Monte pitched a fine game for us tonight," said Savannah manager Tyler Colvin.
