Visiting Grasshoppers Beat Crawdads, 2-0

The Hickory Crawdads got a superb performance from pitcher Ernie Atkinson, but the Greensboro Grasshoppers still won the game, 2-0. Atkinson threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Greensboro reliever Brit Connolly snagged the win, upping his record to 5-3. Ernie Atkinson shouldered the loss. With the win, the Grasshoppers hiked their record to 23-23.
The Grasshoppers got a big at-bat from catcher Artie Williams. For the game, Williams was 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Greensboro a 2-0 lead.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Williams, "and then get after the next one."
