The Asheville Tourists picked up a win at Whitaker Bank Ballpark, dropping the Lexington Legends, 6-0. Steve Nelson, who is tied for 9th in the SAL in innings pitched with 41.2, was the difference-maker. Nelson, the winner, moves to 3-2. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 1 walk. Chris Godwin recorded the save for Asheville, his 3rd of the season.

Asheville used the hitting of Jim MacKinney to pick up the win. The shortstop clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Tourists on top, 3-0. For the game, MacKinney had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

MacKinney told a local reporter: "My job is to go out and play as hard as I can."

After today's action, Asheville sits at 15-16, while Lexington falls to 16-15.
