Kannapolis Absorbs 4-3 Loss to Greensboro
|
The Kannapolis Intimidators could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Joe Wood into a win. Instead, the Greensboro Grasshoppers prevailed, 4-3. Wood threw 6.0 innings allowing 3 runs. Picking up the save was Ken Patrick, his 1st. The Grasshoppers, now 18-10, have been playing some good baseball.
The Grasshoppers got a big at-bat from center fielder Micheal Burns. For the game, Burns went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 7th double of the season gave Greensboro a 2-1 lead.
Burns attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
