On Road, Grasshoppers Top Tourists, 7-1
|
Spirited fans greeted the Asheville Tourists for their clash with the Greensboro Grasshoppers.
Greensboro Grasshoppers starter Myron Cross was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Asheville Tourists, 7-1. Cross, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 1 walk. Picking up the save was Bobby MacColl, his 1st.
Greensboro used a well-timed hit by Brad Connolly to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Grasshoppers ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Cross told the Greensboro Times.
Greensboro, with the win, is 17-8.
