Legends Get Clonked by Intimidators, 4-2

Thanks in large part to third baseman Ron Mallard, the Kannapolis Intimidators beat the Lexington Legends, 4-2. Mallard was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times. Steve Murdoch earned his 2nd save, after closing out the game. The win brings the Intimidators to 14-10, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
Phil Cooper drew 1 walk for Kannapolis. The 24-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring walk off Kevin Richardson. It was his 6th walk of the season.
"Nice, tidy little win," Mallard said after the game.
