The Hagerstown Suns, despite a fine performance by Greensboro pitcher Dante López, grabbed a 3-2 win at Municipal Stadium. López allowed 2 runs over 6 innings. Hagerstown reliever Pat Scott was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Jody Watkins. Chris Chapman earned the save for Hagerstown.

Had Ted Wood not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Wood hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Suns.

"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Greensboro manager J.A. Happ said, following the tough loss.

Despite the win, Hagerstown, now 6-15, is off to a terrible start.
